You almost needed a Venn diagram to follow the various relationships happening on Thursday night's "Community."
For example, Annie still has a thing for Jeff. We saw that when she got defensive over the fact that he changed his shirt in front of her by the lockers.
Jeff, meanwhile, still has a thing for Britta. When Britta announced that she used to date someone who works at a carnival taking place in Greendale (a guy who is actually named Blade, which led to many a reference to a "kickboxing vampire movie"), Jeff went there to figure out what the guy's deal was.
Britta is only attracted to "bad boys," so after Annie redirected Britta's many texts to Blade to another phone, the only time any of this little scheme succeeded was when Troy texted something nice to Britta.
When Britta pronounced Blade a "loser" because of the text, Troy got upset. There's clearly still an attraction there as well. Annie defended Troy's text, so there may be something there too, going back to the first season.
Meanwhile, back at the carnival, we had what was probably the funniest part of the whole episode: the new bromance between Pierce and Chang... a bromance which fizzled over the course of one evening. Now Pierce needed Annie to take his phone so he wouldn't try to contact Chang.
In the middle of all this, we had Dean Pelton clumsily doing Vice Dean Laybourne's dirty work to recruit Troy for the Air Conditioning Repair school. Abed had the best line of the episode, when Pelton showed up at his, Troy and Annie's apartment: "I need help reacting to something."
This week's episode was more plot-heavy than we've seen, but it was the weakest so far since the show's return last month. Even so, there seem to be a lot of big developments headed our way this season.
Once again, we also saw Jeff growing as a person, and I like what's being done with his character especially.
