Police have released an artist's sketch of a man who is believed to have kidnapped a woman in Liberty and forced her to drive to Lafayette County, where he sexually assaulted her.
Police are searching for a man who allegedly abducted a woman from a Liberty intersection, forced her to drive to Lafayette County and sexually assaulted her.
The 40-year-old woman told police that she stopped about 5 a.m. Tuesday at an intersection near Missouri 291 and Main Street. The woman, who was alone in her car, told police that an unknown man jumped into the back seat and ordered her to drive.
The man threatened to cut her if she didn’t do as he said, according to police. She was forced to drive to a remote area in Lafayette County, where the sexual assault took place.
The woman told police she escaped when her attacker got out of the car to smoke a cigarette.
The assailant was described as white and in his mid 30s. He had a medium build and collar-length, curly blond or reddish hair. He was wearing a green T-shirt.
The woman said her attacker smelled strongly of cigarette smoke.
Police released an artist’s sketch based on the woman’s description and asked anyone who knows the man’s identity to call Liberty police at 816-439-4701, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department at 660-259-3622 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
