Metropolitan Police officers are appealing for witnesses after the attack
A UK diplomat has been mugged, leaving him with facial injuries that threaten the sight in his left eye, police say.
George Fergusson, 56, was assaulted and robbed at about 1930 BST on Friday while walking in Margravine Cemetery and Park, in Hammersmith, west London.
Metropolitan Police officers are appealing for information.
Mr Fergusson, who lost a small amount of cash in the mugging, works for the Foreign Office and is due to take up the post of governor of Bermuda.
The suspect is a black man, thought to be aged between 25 and 35, who was wearing a dark hooded top and dark glasses. He is about 5ft 10in tall.
No arrests have been made.
