Beyonce really likes Michelle Obama.
The handwritten note to the first lady posted on her website begins informally with a simple “Michelle.” In the letter, Mrs. Jay-Z says Obama is “the ultimate example of a truly strong African American woman.”
“No matter the pressure, and the stress of being under the microscope -- she’s humble, loving, and sincere,” Beyonce writes.
The singer and actress continues her praises by thanking Obama for “every single thing that u [sic] do for us.”
“I am proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you, [sic] to look up to,” she said.
Beyonce’s relationship with Obama dates back to the first couple’s inaugural ball. The Obamas tapped her to sing the Etta James staple “At Last.”
“It was really powerful and overwhelming,” Beyonce said in a June 2011 interview with Piers Morgan about the performance. “I can’t believe I was there and I can’t believe it was my voice for that moment.”
