14 Year Old LGBT Teen Bullied to Death


14-year-old Kenneth James Weishuhn of Primghar, Iowa took his life on Saturday, April 14th 2012, after being bullied for recently coming out as a GLBT teen a few months ago.

Weishuhn, who was a Freshman at South O'Brien Community High school, received threats over Facebook and texting,

According to an interview conducted by the Sioux City Journal, Superintendant Dan Moore would not elaborate about the case or talk about whether bullying played a role.
"We have heard the allegations," he said. "We don't know for sure why Kenneth did this."

The death is currently under investigation by the O'Brien County Sherriffs Dept. along with local law enforcement.

The tragedy occured the same weekend as the debut of the film Bully, which puts bullying into the national spotlight.

Per Eldridge Family Funeral Homes in Paullina, Iowa, Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, April 19th 2012 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar, Iowa with Rev. S. Kim Peterson and Rev. Mike Cooper officiating.

Burial will be at the Pleasant Hill Cenetery in Primghar, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2:00 PM at the Eldridge Family Funeral Home in Primghar. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made to the family.
